JFJ Hope Centre offers Parenting Programs and Support
JFJ Hope Centre offers Parenting Programs and Support for families that will help you catch your breath.
These two words will set your heart racing. Excitement. Uncertainty. Fear? Pregnancy can be a
confusing time – especially when it is unexpected. Likewise, parents with limited resources can feel
trapped in a constant game of catch-up. Maybe you and your partner aren’t seeing eye-to-eye about
your baby’s future, maybe you and your children are new to the country and finding paid employment is
harder than you expected.
Women and men facing an unexpected pregnancy can access free, confidential counselling. Our
qualified counsellors will help you explore your options and build a plan of action.
Care Closet (Twitter: @TheCareCloset)
Parents can make an appointment once a month to receive emergency supplies from the Care Closet for
their children. The Closet is maintained with seasonal clothing so in the winter you will find warm
clothes, jackets, and boots and, in the summer, clothes for summer activities. The Closet depends on
donations to maintain a stock of new and gently used clothes, diapers, formula and other items. We
encourage families to bring in clean, gently used items their children have outgrown creating a cycle of
families helping families.
What Your First Visit Will Look Like:
Call 905-821-7494 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to make an appointment.
Arriving at 6655 Kitimat Rd, JFJ Hope Centre/My Life Centre is Unit 5. When you enter you will
be greeted and complete our simple intake process.
Each visit you will have the opportunity to look through the Closet where the clothing is hung
and sorted by size. You can take home three outfits for each child as well as diapers, formula,
and wipes for children under 3 as supplies allow.
The Care Closet is by appointment only, setting appointments allows families privacy while they ‘shop’.
Programs are a great opportunity to meet other parents in your area and to practice practical skills.
Programs include courses on cooking, sewing, relationships, time management, and fitness.
It is not easy to handle parenting struggles alone. Get support at JFJ Hope Centre.
